Most of the times I try to turn off the laptop before disconnecting the HDMI cable. I also noticed than when I uplug the HDMI cable from the laptop when the TV is connected and the laptop is on, the laptop screen resolution stays in 1080p and doesn't go back to 4K until I restart the laptop. I wonder if by connecting the HDMI port to the TV so many times, is causing the issue, and eventually will damage the NVidia card? Then Windows installs back the Intel drivers and there are no more further problems. I found out that if i go to the devices in the control panel, and then uninstall the Intel GPU and restart the laptop, the NVidia GPU is recognized again, and the screen resolution goes back to 4K. It has happened in some ocassions that when I turn on the laptop (not attached to the TV), the GPU gets disabled, rendering the screen to a 1080p resolution from the integrated graphics card. I have a Lenovo Y50-70 4K UHD touch screen with an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 860M 2GB GPU, and an integrated Intel HD 4600 GPU.įrom time to time I connect the laptop to the TV via HDMI to watch movies.
